This video looks at how tone of voice plays into the larger picture of our communication. The way we use the term "tone" in a normal conversation usually means much more than word's academic meaning. The video gives a detailed look at both sides and how your tone shapes the impressions people might form about you. Intellectual capital is a key term that help explains a lot about how we add value at work. Expertise is the name of the game, right? But why is some expertise considered more valuable than others. This looks at the role perceptions plays in positioning some types of knowledge as more valuable than others. We have to say "no" sometimes. The term "Social Capital" describes the "value found in relationships." It's true that our relationships provide us friendship and social support. However, social capital theory focuses on the additional benefits of our social connections. This video looks at Robert Putnam's point of view on social capital, Pierre Bourdieu's perspective, and discusses the professional implications of the social capital.
