Words have shades of meaning. So, our choice of words matter. On the one hand, words have a literal or dictionary definition that we call denotative meaning. On the other hand, words also have an emotional charge that can be either positive or negative that we call the connotative meaning. We can use the emotional meaning of words to our advantage so our messages have maximum impact and inspire followers. This video looks at how we can put these ideas into practice as emerging leaders. The term immediacy describes the creation of a sense of closeness and togetherness between a speaker and listener.
